quentin 45
Eyup lads I'm going to do pest control course shortly, but I was interested to know how much you would charge to clear small gardens from mole, and how you would price it, trying to get some experience before I start my course 1 Quote Link to post
earth-thrower 493
Im usually around £40 to £60 for a single mole in a garden.Good luck ,cause molemen are ten a penny now,in some areas.Alot of competition, and i believe this may apply ,in your own neck of the woods! Quote Link to post

earth-thrower 493
Well,i certainly dont consider it expensive. Some charge more, and i dont blame them,if they can get it.LOL Some im sure will even charge less, but that doesnt make sense to me commercially. Quote Link to post
quentin 45
Iv got all traps and that don't see why I couldn't catch them Quote Link to post
derbylad1 293
Do you know anyone that could show you the ropes. I got some old fella to teach me the rights and wrongs of mole trapping and it came in really useful. Half the time i cant be done with moles on farms and push the work back to this old fella. I got myself qualified few years ago and just stick to domestic and small commercial jobs. I charge £50 if i know its the one mole, then obviously more if theres more moles. Quote Link to post

But i would wait till you no you can catch them first. And if all the local guys are part timers working for nothing? How much do you need to earn to pay the bills? If your going to make minimum wage you may need to turn over let's say £500 quid a week. I know lots of pest controllers and 90% of them don't make anything near that figure. The only ones I know who make a wage are the lads who can sell. Unless you have the gift of the gab or are very good at marketing you will struggle to make a living. But It's the same as in any business I suppose. The companies selling the training will tell you that you will make a fortune.... That's after they have sold you a load of gear you will never need Do some research of your local area there will probably be a few companies who already have things sewn up. You will need to be a very good salesman to take work from a reputable established company. Either that or be very cheap, but what's the point in working for nothing. It's taken me 5 years to start making decent money. But even now I have to travel for it i do 40k miles a year. Good luck Quote Link to post

I hope your initial assumptions come to fruition, cause if they dont, you will soon discover, youve been naive about it all. Quote Link to post

Matt 160
Don't take it for granted that Rentokil and other big companies are always expensive. Often, they can afford to do work for a loss to help them gain saturation in one particular area. It's all very well getting training and the bits of paper, but you need real-time experience in the pest game. Having a good business head, and the ability to sell is as important as being able to kill stuff these days. 1 Quote Link to post
