You mean the oins what you use as a 'stop' when doubling elastic up through a hole?

That is ofcourse a nail head and some elastic bands.

 

A nail will work.

 

But the answer to your question is both :thumbs:

You make your loop in the elastic and tie a piece of string through the loop.

 

You then pull the loop through the hole and put your pin in place. Adjust the length of the elastic by fiddling with the elastic in the hole. Once your happy pull it all tight.

I use a thick bit of leather not a nail only because I didnt want to cut my elastic's

This is only for illustration purposes. This catapult isnt designed for this typen of attachment and the holes are too big. Yours should be hard to pull through and a lot tighter :thumbs:
