mooster 1
Just made the first of my own nets and getting sorted generally..........I use a mk 1 still and have one dodgy collar. I can't believe that there is nobody who knows a bit about electronics and can make a cheap and cheerfull transmitter of some sort??! There is a market there for someone with a bit of knowlegde in that area .......most of us are more interested in a locator as an emergency measure rather than a high tech all singing, all dancing pocket computer. Any takers and I'll be more than willing to buy them rather than lining the pockets of big companies like Deben. Mooster Quote Link to post
smokey 0
If somebody has a broken one i can take to work and see if our workshop can get the components to make one,The bloke is electrical mad....made a sonar thing so he can find and listen to bats Quote Link to post
Madcowz 0
@woodga how many of these Mk1's do you have? No wonder they are so hard to come by (for a decent price) you have half the stock in your house. /Mad Quote Link to post

There are people out there with the knowledge on such matters, in fact i know a guy who is "into" this sort of thing, ive put this idea to him and the answer was: For the amount of design time to come up with a new locator collar and and a new reciever box, devided by the amount of people that would buy it, its just not worth it. Simple fact is fellas, there aint enough of us to make it worth while to design a completley new locator set. Now if you were designing and building an electric toilet roll despenser, that everyone in the nation would buy, then its game on P.s Woodga, you are obviously making far too much money, can i have a lone please? Without the chip numbers it is pretty fruitless trying to build one, if you know anyone on the 'inside' at Deben then they would, so I am told, be easy to make. The transmitter collars however are a different kettle of fish . . . it is just easier to get those direct from Deben. OTC Quote Link to post
mooster 1
OTC ,are you saying they still supply MK 1 collars?? Quote Link to post
richie 1
what if someone took one of these units to these whizz kids in maplins to find out exactly what the components were if possible... there must be some sort of electronical device that can tell.... richie ps... deben are full of shit... ive had a few run ins with them. Guest The Big Fish
And once youve gone to all the trouble and time, plus effort of finding out exactly what is in the box, then youve bought all the bits and carefully soldered them together, found a nice new shiny box to put all your bits into, then put a wrapper around it, tied a bow to the wrapper, then offer it for sale. ONLY to find out that Deben have a patent on the design of the circuitry and they are waiting to take you to court for copying their patented design. Quote Link to post
