Ferret mad Dave 65
I try too put some of the net though the hedge and stand at the open end too try push them into the net or I put a gate net though I like too give them a little running space so they hit it at speed but in still a novice in the long nets but above works for me Quote Link to post
Karl Daw 14
Cheer Dave thats another thing you say hitting the net at speed,i noticed the rabbits poped out the holes and went in another hole just next to it if that was a purse net they bingo but they were just being chased around,do you think it might have been something to do with the weather them not bolting fast out the hole? Bunny Boiler 177
Keep the net tight to the hedge and run it the length. Stand away from the net and if you have dogs, get them in the hedge to push the rabbots out. Also, if its a defunct hedge (a few meters of hedgerow with a gap then a few more meters and so on) then you could put some stop nets in (small long nets that are about 1-2 meters) wide to stop them running the hedge length. Karl Daw 14
Thats a good one mate i will do that i got a couple of small nets 12 yards or something like that, thanks mate Quote Link to post
albert64 1,882
i think you answered your own question mate i use a couple of stopnets tthrough the hedge or just set your net in a horse shoe shape at each end of the set Quote Link to post
Karl Daw 14
cheers mate is it always better to do it in a horse shoe shape? Quote Link to post
The one 8,530
As said if your running your net straight up the hedge try putting a couple of stop nets threw the hedge to break it up into workable sections and still put a few purse nets down on the clear holes Quote Link to post
Guest scramble
If your doing hedges and you have a dog you shouldn't need to net parallel to the hedge line, just cut the hedge up every 5-10 yards with stop nets. If the warren is a long one you can lift and set the nets as you work up the hedge leap frogging as you go. SCRAMBLE Quote Link to post
