Shamo 319
Just so the Topic doesn't change, as they so often do, I'd like to say the concept of having 'Mule Cages' or 'Finch Cages' as they are known is not new and certainly not considered cruel or illegal. It is just personal choice as to whether you use them or 'Flight Cages'. I personally think any Animal kept in a situation to keep itself fit and healthy is going to 'perform' better at it's task. I personally don't like the use of 'Training Cages' the Show guys use, but I understand with Aviary bred Birds it will be necessary, for the Birds welfare, in the long run. I do know a guy who 'Hand rears' his Show Birds, they are bigger, calmer and certainly love to court the Judges Fingers....lol. His Chaffies and Linnets never fail to get the extra points... The smallest 'Flight Cage' I would use is 3ft x 3ft x 18inches, might hold a pair of Siskins or Redpolls, but a Mule on his own loves them. Never kept a Mule permanently in a singing cage, I like to keep them fit and don't mind transferring them over when necessary. As an afterthought, I have had a Mule and a Canary taken by Spars from 'Mule Cages'.......think where you site them
