The World Athletics Championships

Recommended Posts

:realmad: :realmad:

Just a note to say what an absolute f***ing shower our athletics team are. Our performance at these championships is the worst in their 23 year history. Utterly appalling.

And this is on the back of tens of millions of pounds of Lottery money being given to our athletes to ensure they perform. They should hang their heads and be forced to remortgage their homes and pay some of it back! :realmad:

And why is this level of performance being displayed? Just a few thoughts on this;

School playing fields being sold off to the highest bidder :realmad: :realmad:

Rainbow jumper wearing, Guardian reading, lentil crunching, cappucino swilling, tree hugging, sporting failures being in positions of power within the left wing elite in our education system who tell our kids that competition is a bad thing and that there is no such concept as failure. :realmad: :realmad:

Parents who give their kids every possible excuse to stay indoors and not get down to the park and kick a ball around. E.g. TV's in their rooms, computers, video games etc. :realmad: :realmad:

Parents who think if their kids are out of their sight for more than two hours then they must have either been abducted or are sniffing glue. :realmad: :realmad:

McDonalds and every other outlet that serves processed crap and markets it directly at kids. :realmad: :realmad:

Tony B-liar who clearly doesn't give a toss about sport unless he can piggy back on the success of others and try and take the credit. THe one sport I'd like to see him in is the world championships for sandpapering your bollocks and then rolling in Tabasco sauce. :diablo:

John "Ships Steward" Prescott - bcause he is sanctioning the selling of playing fields and is a predjudiced fat c*** who needs a good kicking.

It's absolutely pathetic. Let's get back to a society that understands that their are winners and losers in life. That beating everybody else in a race is a bloody good thing. That being fat definitely makes you fair game for being picked on at school or discriminated against in the big wide world. :haha: That sending your kids out with a football from 9am until dusk is a sensible option. That a decent diet is important for your children.

I am ashamed to be British sometimes and looking at our athletes today epitomises why. They are a bunch of free-loading wannabees who have got it too easy spending lottery money on BMW's and iPods. They should be given quarterly training and competition targets over a five year plan and if they fail two targets in a row then they are kicked out for good.

Now where did I put my emigration papers??? :realmad: :realmad:

And don't get me started on footballers - gang-raping, bling loving, vacuous tossers........

Why can't everyone be a bit more like our rugby players or cricketers? What is wrong with this country?

Rant over. :realmad: Nurse, my medicine please............... :icon_redface:B)

I could here "Jerusalem" playing the background as I read that Snelly :D In my mind the fella from the Channel 4 WG Grace adverts was reading it too :11:

That's got to be the best non-dog orientated post I've read on here :good: If people stopped reacting against what nature intended and what's natural, they'd see what's happening to this country. What made us great has been torn away. It might not seem like it's been torn as there's been no sudden shift, but in terms of the history of this nation, our values have disappeared in a very short space of time.

A TRUE STORY ..... I am a decent footballer and play a competitive fashion in midfield, no one fecks with me and my mate as we are animals lol

My little cousins dad isntinto footy but he is so If im passing walking the dogs I drop in to get him and we go for a kick about on the schoolfield. I help him control it , trap it , look around , find space but more important , be a team player and work hard. He is shaping up to be a good player but hes a wee bit quiet so I make him shout his name before he kicks it.

I went to watch him play in his under 8s league and I kid you not He was made to say sorry and shake hands with a lad for TACKLING him before giving the ball back for a free kick and then was told to shut up by the ref and his coach for shouting " My ball" when it was rolling around free. I was absolutely disgusted. Where would we be now if this RUBBISH HAD BEEN HAPPENING 20 YEARS AGO ???????

What a total disgrace , we only have 5 truly world class footballers ( Rooney , Lampard, Gerrard, Terry and Scholes) We wil have none in 15 years time!!!!

I must live in a totally different world to you. Theres a playing field next to our house, it was full of little lads playing footie (& fighting  ) last night. My kids have always been happier outside than stuck in the house. They’ve always been active in sports & were both good swimmers. They were encouraged all the way by their school. Have you any idea how difficult it is in competitive sport to get to the top and how much effort is required?

Little ( ) Smudger used to swim competitively for the County, he swam in the school team & made it to the finals of the junior National Schools Championship at Sheffield where he came third when he was 9 years old (sorry for embarrassing you Smudger :11: ). We went all over the country with him and sat for hours in hot sticky swimming baths. To get to the top is nigh on impossible and requires a huge amount of skill, personal commitment and dedication, hours and hours of training, getting up at 5.00 am, swimming before school and then again after; at least 4 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are too many people sitting back ready to knock our sports people for their efforts. They have sacrificed an awful lot to get where they are. They need praise & encouragement all the way, not negativity; something we’re not very good at in this Country as proved by this thread. Its much easier to knock them.

keeps darling ,

I would wake at half 4 everyday at 12 years old. be out the door at 4:45, Then spend the next 3 hours running , and I mean running ,eventually I was running 27 miles day in day out for the FUN of it. Im not tom Riley, I left school 8 years ago and my track records still stand. Then I had school at 9am but before that at least six of us would play footy for an hour. After school i saw to my dog then it was tea, then to The ring, The gym or the field until night fell. 3 of us did gymnastics on fridays , I did Thai boxing on mondays, wednesdays and sunday afternoons. I biked every night in the summer as well and would regularly jog from one end of carlisle to the other for the crack. Me and my mate poured over books night after night learning about fast twitch fibres, Lactic acid, dynamic and proggressive strength. All to learn how to squeeze every last sweat particle from our bodies for 90 mins on rainy saturday mornings in carlisle and distrct. The thought of being out tackled, out ran, brushed off, forced off the ball, giving it away, Not tracking back was anethema to us. we were representing our town and no one came to our yard and bossed us around My mate won player of the year in the under 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s, 16, 18, leagues in every season. He is a proffessional Moto xer now. I was captain of the under 18 team when I was 15!!!!!!

Competiveness isnt the word, We met lads in the summer doing exactly the same as us. Thats what pushed you on. Seeing a neighbouring teams player looking toned, fit and determined. We knew we would met them in the winter and we

would need to be stronger, harder, faster , better than them to win.

There is none of that now. Its all about taking part that counts. Thats why England must win this next world cup. To make up for every summer we have roared Tiger Tim to gallant defeat. For every gallant loser in our nations sporting history, For every young lad released from his YTS in favour of a foreign player. The core of British sports is rotten from the roots upwards. We cannot bred Pedigrees from Donkeys ...

And as for my sporting career, Under 14 cumbria cross country champion, Under 16 CCCC, aS WELL AS 800M , 1500M , 3000M Under 16 carlisle schools champion.....I got shin splints, discovered lager and have been a fat c**t since!

HAWKEYE, my dear boy ;)

If that isn't competetiveness I don't know what is!!

But...

it still goes on, honest, it does!! My nephews play footie in South Yorkshire, the competitiveness amongst the teams is unbelievable!!!! Smudger gave up swimming but didn't give up sports, he was also a keen cricketer, played for under 15's, under 18's, seconds & first teams of our local cricket club, all at the same time. He opened the bowling for the under 15's and the seconds. They all played their hearts out & when the team won there was no better feeling.

Then he discovered lager & fags ............ :11: :11: :11:

Stabs he used to thrash Old Shildon Railway, took many a wicket off them :11: :11: :11: :D

Now I really am in bother :D
