A guy i know has a beddywhippet x lakelandwhippet its a cracking looking bitch its only young so not seen it run, its quite racy looking and got a good coat on it the only think is its very small maybe only 15 tts and not likely to grow any bigger !

I think a good leggy Plummer X Whippet would make a usefull ferreting companion, it would give it some nose thats for sure, and the extra size should stop it going to ground, buster.

do you think it would give a better nose than the terrier crosses that we already have i dont

IMO no other terrier has a nose to match the Plummer but like in all breeds there might be the odd duffer, choose carefully what ever you breed from, buster.

Few months back I read/checked all the whirrier threads. Think I've come across mainly JR and Patt whirriers. One border whirrier.

To me such a small dog would be handy, especially if it had the right jacket to hide it's whippet origin.

there really nice to look at but imo you could only use the for mooching i dont think they would have the speed to catch a rabbit

I got a lurcher with an 1/8th of beddy in and an 1/8th of bull in, she's an honest dog who can put a decent shift in on the bunnies, does it all on the bunnies and as pace to burn........a nice mix imo and no need to try to re-invent the wheel.......if it ain't broke....

ive a wheaten whippet. he is ok. i also bred a litter of lakeland x greyhounds. many moons ago. i recon the tried and tested crosses are popular for a reason.

I see what you mean but it has always interested me with the massive variety of lurchers that can be made why are there so few we actually use and i suppose your right the most common must be the best, But saying that i would still love to see a fox terrier or irish terrier x whippet or grey seems like they could make good workers

We always stick to the tried and tested cross is it worth taking a chance on something different or do we stick to certain crosses for a reason
