Colin-_-Mac 0
My name is colin and i got a ferret off of my dads friend. Its the first pet i have.He said she is bred for bolting and is a young ferret. He also said she was never brought out.So i b rought her out 3 times. The first time i brought her out she was going down burrows and travelling a bit but nothing bolted. The second time she bolted 3 rabbits and the third time she bolted 4 rabbits and was locked on 1 of them outside a burrow. I was only using collar and bella aswell and im after loosing two collars and two lots of bells. She always gets them off no matter how tight i put them on. But the three times i brought her out ferreting i only did 4 ditches the first day about 4 ditches the second day and only half a ditch the third day because i lost the collar and bells.Any advice on ferreting would be appreciated.I am only 16 and judt getting into the hunting scene. Rake aboot 4,935
Sound like you are having a good bit sport mate, keep it up. I never use bells or owt,, only locators,, you can put them on tight enough to stay on without choking the buggers so don`t worry. Get yerself some nets and start catching those rabbits that she`s bolting ! Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
put the collar on tigher, make more holes in the strap, or put the collar behind her front legs, so she cant get it off (i work one of mine like this as all she does is try to get her collar off when its on her neck, but works away when its around her torso) did you not dig to your collars? they aint cheap Quote Link to post

Charlie in bed 5
When i first for the mk3 locator and collar i dug to the collar that the ferret pulled off, it was a 5ft dig. did not want to loose it they are expensive! ever since i have had them on the ferrets tight and they seem to stay on. i put them on before i set off so when i get their if they are still on they are fine. good luck with your ferreting your doing a good job so far and in time you will learn more as you go along.
