pmatty77 26
How do we do it chaps, always seems to be a bit of a nightmare for me on my own even the ferts that are used to them, can't find any particular way to get them on...anyone found an easy way Quote Link to post
The one 8,529
Put the leather threw the buckle so your starting with a loop then pick up your ferret slip the loose over its head and fasten it 4 Quote Link to post
BazB 37
i bought some new collars (2nd hand) off a guy on here couple weeks ago and they've got clips rivotted on to the leather so basically you just have to clip them in place once you've set the size. much easier to put on but ive yet to really try them out in the field to make sure they dont come off Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
as the one already said, make a loop first. makes life easier Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,294
What the one said.... Nothing more to add,,,,, oh apart from make sure you put plenty holes in the strap 1 Quote Link to post
George Kinloch 16
At first i fed them ferret paste and while they ate it I put it on no worries. Good way of starting off and it means u can fiddle about with them getting the best technique of putting it on. Edited January 26, 2013 by George Kinloch Quote Link to post
3 and counting 22
Started mine off with collars from pretty much day 1 of having them. I find with mine, if I crouch down and scruff them supporting them on my leg, within 3 seconds they yawn (don't know if this is natural behavior) then slip the collar over their head already set to the right size. not slipped one yet, even when they back up through the nets. Halfinch 51
Try holding a bloody fert still while trying to get rid of half a dozen ticks, Makes putting on collars seem simple. Hahaha seriously, it can be a mare, I'm lucky, the ones I use now are pretty good, but as the others said, plenty of holes in the collar, and through the buckle first, it may still not be easy, but its as easy as it gets without Chloroform. ;-) Quote Link to post
The one 8,529
If you get them as kits as your handling them every day put a collar on and take it off them the time there old enough to use you dont get a lot of bother from them Quote Link to post
