BIG TOM 835
Well been out this morning for a few hours well i wish i didnt i come across a farmer who is tacking his sheep on the land now i have been meaning to ask him for a bit of permo as he is a friend of a friend so started chatting and all he is talking about is a bunch if tossers from the village coming up on my permo and his land with bunches of dogs , spades and air rifles shooting and coursing what ever they want even the bloody sheep and not just that but cutting fencing again so he is not to happy and then i decided to check a few warrens to see if they are being used well and as i approached i seen footprints in the snow loads of them and paw prints so i thought shit they have been here as well and yes they have all the burys dug up like a land mine so i was well pissed off so watch out boys coz if i catch you haha sorry for the rant Atb Tom Quote Link to post
Taz-n-Lily 62
Reminds me of that bit in Crocodile Dundee - where they were shooting wallabies or kangaroos and he shot back from behind a dead'un? Needs dealt with, because it gets us all a bad name. You could have a new permission into the bargain. Me, I'd get the police involved, but I know that doesn't go down too well here. They may do naff-all, but then you can get involved yourself and say you tried the proper measures. The sheep are near to lambing probably, so the farmer's not going to be too chuffed at someone letting their dogs chase them . Quote Link to post
J.DOG 1,355
Yep happening alot now most farmers have had enough up here , I own 25-30 acres and yesterday I took a mooch in my fields as usual with the lurchers and came across some foot prints and dog prints i assumed poachers im not fussed about them tbh i tell them to clear off and warn them lol but i dont go mad lol i know the feeling anyway I followed the tracks wanting to find the c**ts and I came across an old man and his wee terrier he'd got stuck in the snow on the country road and decided to cut over the fields to get home which is about 3 1/2 mile so I phoned my dad who's only 2 mins away and came up and we dug him out the snow and helped him on his way poor old fella was terrified when I caught upto him he said I looked a scary fooker lol glad I found him tbh he was struggling 2 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
There are 2 moans to be had here. First is the lads poaching someone else's permission and second is how they are doing it - mob handed, worrying stock, cutting fences etc. The 1st needs to be accepted, it will always happen, most if not all of the lads who've got permission will have poached at some point and probably still do - and you don't know if its someone else's permission or not. I will never poach land where someone has taken me onto their permission. But I'm sure when I poach elsewhere that its SOMEBODY'S permission. I just don't know who's. I'm not sure how we deal with the second issue. I don't think the lads are uneducated, just scumbags. If they weren't cutting fences and killing sheep and giving lurcher men a bad name they would be at a football match starting fights giving football fans a bad name or down the pub being bell ends giving social drinkers a bad name. Just my take on it. There are nob heads in all walks of life but to tar poachers with the same brush as stock worriers or fence cutters etc is wrong. Atb. Gaz. 2 Quote Link to post

A poacher is a poacher imo..whether he takes one for the pot undetected or whether he takes everything and regardless of how he does it....the defining factor here is how he is perceived by others imo 1 Quote Link to post

I've never poached with a dog (probably because I'm new to the game) but I've poached plenty of fish when I was younger. I just think that this behaviour (cutting fences, and killing with no respect for the quarry) shows us all in a bad light and does nothing for the sport. Quote Link to post
