Bob, i can. lol. your obviously a top bird hunter.. its amazing how much you can learn sat on a lawn with a bivvy init. Got nowt to do with my carp fishing bud, comes from egg collecting as a nipper, and a genuine interest in birds. I would never take more than 1 and I would never take an egg if I couldnt identify the bird, no point. All in the past now though bud....

Used to love going egging with my old man, think best was a guillemot. Those were the days, grew up in the woods and fields, walking miles........those days are gone now for most kids.........the world is a poorer place for it.

The miles we used to put in was unreal, but you dont think nowt of it when your a nipper. Strange thing is, I can still remember where I got most of them. Did you have a climb down for the guillemot?

bobcullen79 1,495
I would of said a Guillemot was worth more the a GCG lol, all depends on your locality I spose. I walked from Kirkby to Carr mill dam for my Grebes, what a trek. Yeah I remember all that Pip, the crafty sod`s, all the wing dragging and dive bombing. We got our lappies on the grounds of the Kraft factory on the edge of Kirkby, there really was quite a few pairs nesting on there at the time.

We used to walk all that, up onto Lord darby estate... Ive got vague memories of the newspaper factory. You know Carr mill and the Kraft factory then bud....
dytkos 17,783
Funny, depends where you are. When I was a youngster, lappy's eggs were easy, loads around where we lived. Seabirds, at least 30 miles to the coast, they were a rarity for us Cheers, D.
