fireman 10,976
When i was a teenager in the 's if you walked past a certain park late at night a tawny owl would attack you,my brother got attacked and cut up quite bad and another lad i knew had it bind to the back of his neck and he ended up hospital for a few days.Loads of folk had it attack them but nothing could be done about it except warn folk in the local paper, was a scary walk and just about everyone i knew from teenager to old folk walked in pairs down that road late at night. Will add it was in Salisbury if anyone on here is from that way and can remember the owl in Victoria Park by the girls old grammer school. BOLIO1 1,078
Could have been an escaped imprinted owl wanting fed? Many years ago a famous wild life photographer called Eric Hoskings had an eye taken out by an angry wild tawny owl that he had just photographed. Most birds of prey have gripping power that is out of proportion to their weight, so a 3 lbs goshawk or Redtail can, in some circumstances take a 9 or 10 lbs hare. One day while we were hawking rabbits my pals 2 lbs 4 oz female Harris caught and held a massive doe hare that got up between burrows. Talk about Jack the giant killer! Guest Chancey
think there was one in Yorkshire had a taste for terriers
Bosun11 537
I'd go with Bolio's theory, possibly an imprint... Either that or the owl had a hatred for Masons since it was 'blackballed' in that lodge....
