Mr Craptree Fishing On Quest

Recommended Posts

Proper fishing with the use of watercraft rather than all the latest gizmos.

I'm a great follower of the methods employed by John Bailey and have a lot of his earlier books. I now use one of his methods of fishing the bobbin with flake as bait on the rivers for roach and have seen some great success.

Looking forward to the other programs in the series.

Bought one when I was about 10 at a jumble sale,as a kid with no anglers in the immeadiate family it was invaluable.Enjoyed the new programme, but Ive got to say for me the finest fishing series ever made was Passion for Angling, very atmospheric ,magical even and a good balance of modern techniques/tackle and traditional methods,I know a few people never fished in their lives were glued to the show.I watched a show called Thinking Tackle the other day and to be honest it just left me cold, the guys clearly catch a lot of fish, but the overall programme was flat as a witches tit, dont think it would encourage anybody to pick up a rod for the first time, and to be honest the whole show had a sort of Emperors new clothes vibe to it,more like a cooking programme,a hair rig is a hair rig no matter how they dress it up ffs none of the "latest"rigs seem that much different to the ones we used nearly 30 years ago,a few subtle changes .....worth a programme ....no

Well said northern lad, passion for angling is an excellent series, as for crabtree the other night, the lad was great and a very good angler for his age, but bailey is far from a good presenter, he's a good fisherman but terrible at presenting and i think another angler would of been better, maybe cribbins, martin bowler (a bit young for crabtree) john (haha) wilson, but best of all would of been chris yates, as that has alway's been his way to fish. I also think the catching the impossible series is a great set of fishing programmes to watch, also a fish for all seasons is supposed to be good but haven't got around to watching it yet, i might watch that tonight with a little drink or two and i will let you know how it was, it better be good as i have had it for a few week's and never watched it because i have been watching catching the impossible series, anyway i'll find out later.

Apologies to OP went of topic :victory: Chris Yates would have been a better choice....the young lads watercraft was impressive for a kid of his age,and I would happily swap my left nut for that Tench. What happened to John Wilson not seen anything new for ages :hmm: a pal of mine many years ago rang him at his shop to ask if he was planning a trip for Mahseer and to express an interest in going with him,John Wilson told him to f**k off...and hung up

Alright mate hope things are good, i have been out a few times for pike but its been really slow, haven't even had a double, but most have been on lures and its always good fun that way seem to get the best out of them but my piking isn't over yet and i still hope to have a few decent day's. Talking to a few lads around different parts and they say its been slow also, i think there's too much rain or is it not enough, i know its one of them excuses haha, as for the programme it's a dvd i will see what i can do to get you a copy, if i do i will get in touch.

Now then bull, hope your well and doing good, i've had a few morning's on the canal and just can't find the big girl's, seems like it's full of jack's but there is a few good perch taking kopytos but i've only done morning's walking along with a lure rod, get to cover a lot more water, there has been a few lad's deadbaiting down there, but they haven't had a touch for 3 month's now, i think if it gets colder the deadbaiting will start to pay off as i don't think this winter has been too bad, have you been out lately, and how have you been doing, sorry to hijack the thread.
