air gun ant 1,666
i make my own and love it!! its skill every rabbiting man should no as mentioned before. and if a rabbit kicks the net youve only got yourself to blame lol Quote Link to post
The one 8,482
Howm many nets would you get from 500g spun poly I get nine nets out a spool there four footers never measured how many other sizes i would get Quote Link to post
AndyKelly 251
if you start off with 8 on the ring and do 3ft 6 nets you get 12-14 nets per ball, ball of string from agouti £8.60 plus 50 rings roughly £5.50 ball of draw cord £10.50, loomis needle £2.50 plus a 2 and an eight board £1 plus postage roughly £25+ it is a good feeling to make your own nets but if your just starting out it will take you a while to get used to it and get your confidence up, there is nothing better than catching a rabbit in a net you make yourself 1 Quote Link to post
pmatty77 26
It's a personal choice mate, for instance the time it takes me to make one it would be paid at about 50p per hour if i where to try and sell them,on the other hand i like doing it and gives great satisfaction getting a bunny in one's you have made yourself Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
For my first attempts I bought a kit,the hemp was like using barbed wire compared to spun my hands are like leather being a builder and it tore my poor pinkies to bits spun nylon is much more user friendly, the satisfaction from catching with home made nets is well worth the effort I know it takes me 40 mins ish to knit one,I believe someone a little more proficient can do one in 20 mins, still some going to make a wage off them, dont know how they do it,watched Mick Dadd at a game fair a few years ago,he was very fast.....but its still hard to make a living I would of thought Quote Link to post

desertdog 149
this has been a good thread, nice to see someone else getting the info they need,as regarding needles, i have a variety, old wooden ones, which i favour and they are from 6ins-10ins, the mesh gauges are probably as old as me, made from some hard wood and comfortable to work with.
