Women In Front Line Combat Roles

Recommended Posts

I've just finished in the infantry after 22 years and i did my first afghan tour as youngish lad, a whole life in front of me to come, no mortgage, no bills(apart from the loan on my boy racer car), loved it out there. did the job and hopefully did it well. not caring a bit what i faced

Second tour, our battalion saw a lot of shit and we lost some very good lads and saw a lot of lads that didn't like what was in front of them. they never went back out on patrols or op's and like socks said, were pushed into a job more suited to their mind set. A very, very rough tour.

The third tour...i was 37-38, thought f**k that shit...glad i was in a job where i ended up taking bombs and bullets out to the lads...instead of firing them.

respect mate......... from speaking to lads who have been there............its something i would hate to do lol.............one said iraq is like a playground compared to afghanistan!!!

I need luck mate...this civvy life isn't so easy. good job i have a pension to tie me over. I dont like this working for a living shite.....lol

But i dont miss it in the slightest, i was lucky and spent my last year at a unit that teach and test the TA before they deployed, and was based local. So i managed to get myself suited to civvy street very progressively.

are you into running dogs??? can sort you a day out if you are, only down the road............

I had it quite easy and very lucky i suppose. Even my second tour was cut short to go recruiting in Worcester....easy life...lol

I had the piss taken for being a "bullet dodger"....f*****g right. I love my legs!!!!! The only shit thing is...that the young lads aren't paid enough....and its not likely to get any better for a long time.

War is war and a fire fight is a fire fight and yep it's some scary shit at times and does effect people BUT the worst atrocities I have ever seen that effected men the worst was in Kosovo ... The things them Serbs and Croatians did to each other and innocent women and kids was unspeakable ... If I wrote just a paragraph of what went on in those secluded mountain villages most of you wouldn't sleep for nights ... It truly was a disturbing place that I was glad to get out of.........

We found a dead pregnant woman nailed on a cross, they'd taken her baby out and stuck a piglet in its place....i was 19 at the time and the first ever dead person i'd ever seen. But i think i was too young to care...if that makes sense.

A bloke I know said he seen a video of something similar from the Balkans during the wars they had where a group of blokes are all betting, then one of them grabs hold of a pregnant woman, cuts her open and pulls the baby out. They were betting on what sex the baby was going to be.

Truly terrible.
