TOMO 26,633
Picked this fellow up yesterday, shot of course. As you can see from the pics, it has two enlarged pads,, don't know if this a birth defect or an injury,,, but what you can see is enlarged nails because of these toe problems,,, you can't see on the pic but also the dew claw is longer than the other side, and it turns inside on to the leg. Those pads looked sore and I bet they were causing it some pain. In the old days befor the ban a dog would have picked this off no problem, and it's only luck that it was shot 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
looks like its been like that for a good while the length of the nails will be due to how it was compensating with its movements for the injuries it had. to have no natural preditors is not a good thing for any species Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
I once caught a rabbit that looked as though both its hindlegs had been damaged by a combine. One paw was completely smashed, with bits of bones sticking out of the leg, but the tissue had grown round them trying to heal. Needless to say the poor thing didn't get very far, but the damage had obviously been done a few weeks and the rabbit was fat and healthy apart from the injuries. Quote Link to post
General lee 979
I caught a hare once and it's left hind leg had broken around half way up and set itself sticking of almost straight out to the side but it was healthy and seemed like it was feeding ok had a fair turn of speed to considering its injury Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Ive caught a few roe and fallow with busted up legs but all the animals looked pretty healthy considering there injurys. Pulled a nice doe once with one of its hooves totally gone but was healed and the deer looked in brilliant condition. Quote Link to post
