DIDO.1 22,844
Im still using little nipper traps that were my dads when he was a british rail pest controller, they are 30 years old plus. Iv caught thousands of mice in them. Getting a bit low on em now so ordered 30 new ones and iv got to say not happy with the quality compared to the old ones. Iv bought the victor rat traps to replace the old nipper rat ones and the quality is spot on so will prob try the victor mouse traps next. Just dont fancy using the new plastic ones even though the ones iv 'borrowed' have done the job. Nice live catch trap by the way! 2 Quote Link to post
albert64 1,882
i've got mice in my shed again 2nd time this winter, they caused that much damage they've chewed fishing gear, purse nets , the b*****d things obliterated a hand made longnet so i think i'll knock up one of those traps this weekend, they cant climb back up the funnel can they as i dont just want to be feeding them Quote Link to post
fatasafool 216
Was wondering if they could climb up the funnel myself ? Enough wire to knock a few traps up Quote Link to post

Can't beat the victor rat traps but for mice I have always preffered the T Rex for mice, I'm now using the tomcat trap made by the same company, great little traps. Pm me your addy and I'll bung you a couple in the post. Quote Link to post
john b 38
I made one of these a little while ago, if I remember rightly based on a picture that Fish posted on here in about 2009 I think. Anyway it is a very effective design and the basic funnel principle has been used in mouse traps for hundreds of years. The key to success is getting two dimensions right; the tube size and the gap between the floor and the bottom of the tube. I put a plan for one of these in my most recent book an a couple of lads on Shetland ended up testing the plan for a school project, and as I understand it managed to catch a mouse in the head's office. When I tested my own I used a night vision camera to record how the trap works and there's a link to it on youtube below. Unfortunately I don't have as many mice as Salt Fish ! 1 Quote Link to post

john b 38
Thanks Moxy I've just found this one too. It's a commercial funnel mouse trap that I was playing about with. We had a mouse in the cereal cupboard in the kitchen so over a series of nights I tried out some of my live catch trap collection. Interestingly he DID escape from this one. . Quote Link to post
