Born Hunter 17,763
Has anybody had a dog that jacked from the off on a certain quarry and was given chance but written off as no good for that quarry run on on what it was good at and then years later at 3, 4, 5 etc decided to self enter and go alright? Recent events (nothing of great significance but got me thinking) reminded me of Darcy's Scooby that entered to fox at 3 after previously being written off on them. I'm only interested in people experiences, I don't care if you think such a dog should be culled or if you had a dog that was just entered late or what the breeding implications are of breeding such dogs. Let's keep it real. Quote Link to post
Blue one 89
I had a lurcher bitch, that would not even chase a fox on her own, only ever doubled up. She was good at everything else. She had a litter of pups at 4 years old, once the litter was raised and weaned and i got her back to fitness, she started to take fox like she was all ways taking them, weather the litter of pups she had made her change her mind, i don't know. R.A.W 1,987
i had a bitch that would not catch a rabbit she would course them really tight but would not pick them up. now most people would get rid but after 9 months of frustration and trying everything.(she was a year old when i had her) i slipped her on a rabbit on the lamp she straight lined it and brought it back as fast as she went out. we never looked back after that what a great bitch too. she never did anything bigger and only caught her first squirrel at six. strange bitch but a pleasure to have around. That's what I was talking about. Never seen it myself. Though sometimes when I think I have a dog sussed it does something that suprises the hell out of me. Quote Link to post
