R_Oldroyd 17
Hello there, I currently have 3 50 yard longnest made out of 5ply that i use when ferreting and they are great. The down side is at are quiet heavy for nightwork. Has anyone made their longnets for night sessions out of 4 ply and what is the maximum lenght they would make them. Would 75yd in 4ply be too heavy??? Edited July 11, 2007 by R_Oldroyd Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
never knitted a net in hemp, however i believe it'd be quite heavy. Would you not consider using spun polyester, its much lighter, a fifty yard net will weigh around the 1 kilo mark when size 20/15 is used Quote Link to post
masterhunter 3
R Oldroyd, A 75yd in 4 ply hemp would be alright for the first set, after this the net would be heavier due to picking up dew and moisture. When I was 19 I bought a 100yd hemp long net and Iv'e got forarms like "popeye". I found I needed forearms like "conan". I sold the net!!. Regards masterhunter Quote Link to post
