.20 Vs .22

If your .20 barrel doesn't like h&n 11grain pellets, an have to use 13 grain, does the trajectory go like a .22 13grain pellet being shot? If that's the case, is it better to go for .22 due to more pellet choice? Cheers

Bisley Superfield also a good pellet (if it suits your barrel) 11.4gn my Taunus happens to shoot both FTT and Superfield exactly the same. I prefer the Superfield for hunting. Just a personal thing.

 

Accupell are also available in .20

 

The thing is, there will be a good pellet for your rifle and it is easy enough to find which one. .20 the same weight as .22 will still hold higher - at 100 yards two IDENTICALLy tuned rifles (Rapids shooting 950 fps) one was .20 the other was .22. The same weight pellet (Crossman premier) and the .20 hit a good 5" higher with the same point of aim and zero distance. This serves to illustrate there is a benefit to the .20 in terms of arc of flight.

 

What rifle? Or rather what barrel - all my Theobens, ram or Rapid, shoot FTT well in all calibres. You might have a rogue, but there is a good correlation there!

i always used logun penetrators in my fac .20 rapid 15.6gr but it was getting more difficult to source them

I haven't changed it over yet..20 barrel etc seems a right pain in the arse to source..where's best to buy new? It's for a rapid sub 12:, cheers

To change you`ll need probe , mag , and barrel . Depending on what barrel you have now , and what you replace it with , you`ll have a power difference .

I know what I need, an the power bit is sorted lol just trying to source the parts. Where could I get the probes from buster? And barrel new? I'm not bothered about the mag, that I don't need to shoot like..cheers lads

Just swapped mine all over yesterday , 12 inch barrel .20 , mags and probe . Im lucky enough to have a custom shroud being made for it as well . Not had time to run it much as yet , but seems ok .

Std mfr skinny 16" bust. It's accurate..but had a go of a .20 cal mk1 today, feck me...I love it lol il be happy with 16mm 14-16" barrel mate tbh. How much are the probes? Would I need reg tweaked?

You can do it either way Rob . If you get a barrel the same or longer its gonna be m.20 so more powerful BUT , with the reg set for a 177 , it will be super consistent for .20 so i left mine as it is . Hammer load can be adjusted , amongst other things , to get you where you wanna be power wise . I think Dave had 2 .20 probes for around £20 from america . Dont forget the skinny is like that for shroud volume , so there may be a louder report from a .20 .

im just going to go with a 16mm barrel mate and a hw silencer me thinks

just need to get everything together, organise with someone of special talents to machine the barrel lol

if i bought a 23", and had it say 14", what would i be able to do with other 9"? is it just scrap ?

hopefully i wont need to touch the regulator atall, and just adjust it by other means

You might be as well buying a second Rapid - 12/200 and fettle it. Unless you sell the current bits to help offset.

 

Glad you like the .20 - I have been using it almost exclusively since 1996. I keep telling people, but many are still wary of it. For sub 12ft-lbs and not pure target shooting I cannot understand anyone using anything else. Even at 925fps it is still a phenomenal calibreand I would have it over .22 at that velocity unless the size of quarry dictated heavy projectiles.

yes i agree, it is much diffrence lol i know some one selling a old mk1 .20, with ags scope, 600, no offers. i think thats pretty steep myself when i bought my mfr for that
