It would be nice to see some pics. Is it a first cross aswell?

Yes she is. That dog wouldn't happen to be on Davids web site would it? theres a dog on there of that breeding that looks very like mine.

I use a beddy cross not only for ferreting but all my shooting as well. She even comes beating with me and flushes as well as any of the spaniels on the shoot. The only problem is, is that she is slightly hard mouthed. Apart from that she for me is almost perfect, she marks, she retreives and she is steady when things are slow.

ive seen most crosses out ferreting and most catch their fair share of rabbits.

i use mine for ferreting but they arent top class by any standards and dont get to work with nets.

having said that getting my lurcher to stand over a set picking up rabbits as they bolt was the easiest thing ive ever done with working dogs.

mind if they clear the hole id have more chance of catching them. :clapper::clapper:

Where are you ferreting Phil? I've never thought of ferreted rabbits as being easy meat for a lurcher but, then i do do a lot of ferreting along hedgerows and in woodland. A dog really has to be on it's toes when working in this environment.

mainly north york moors but just about all types of terrain.

im not saying its always easy,im saying my lurcher has found it far easier to catch bolting rabbits than she has catching the very lamp shy and daytime rabbits near where i live.

sorry if my post sounds like im making out ferreting skills are easily mastered.i know they arent and my lurchers have a long way to go but at the same time i know that i can go out ferreting and keep the freezer full using a dog which will work its heart out in woods, quarries, wasteland etc and catch very little.so for me bolting rabbits to the dog was the easiest way of giving her the oppertunity to catch bunnies regularly.
