Cheers tegater, I remember now like you said if it stays warm its ok because the poison Lowers the body temperature causing hypothermia

And if I remember I read something about during trials of black pearl if the temp rose there was a risk of the mice coming round.

All ironed out now I hope.

Lol no good if your using behind a combi boiler.

Well we must have fussy Feckin mice up here Matt

They must go well with your tight farmers..... :whistling:

I've only used it a couple of times; quite impressive to get a quick knockdown on jobs; the mice seem to just nibble a corner off the sachet and buy it almost straight away. I was using it on bars in Romax mouse boxes.

My favourite mouse bait was always Sorexa CD. Very palatable and easy to use in lofts etc in the little red round bait trays.

I haven't dismissed it yet Matt but its strange that mice would go for something else eg deadline paste or grain and not entertain the alpha.

You could be right. Not classed as expensive enough along with the molecatching prices. Lol

The problem was it was an anticoagulant that only worked below 18 deg and if the temp was raised it didn't have the same effect.

It's not an anti-coagulant.

Edited to add:

I normally use neosorexa pasta bait which I find works well

If your mice will eat normal pasta bait then they will certainly eat Black Pearl. The formulation is the same as Neosorexa and most of the other pasta baits; it's just the active that is different.

it had other uses

ALPHA-CHLORALOSE -- alpha-D-glucochloralose.

Material: Synthetic chemical prepared by reacting chloral with

glucose under heat.

Usage: 350-500 mg orally.

Effects: Euphoriant affecting CNS in a manner similar to PCP

(phencyclidine), accompanied with mental changes like those from

smoking hashish.

Contraindications: Although a central depressant, in some

individuals it may cause nervousness. Less toxic than PCP or chloral.

Dangerous if taken with even small amounts of alcohol (even beer).

May cause convulsions.

Learn something else knew, I was always told it was an anti coagulant!
