slipper 116
does the air temperature effect the zero? or put it another way will the temperature of my ammo have any effect? for instance ammo is in a ammo safe in the garage which is freezing? just a thought really Quote Link to post
tegater 789
Cold ammo will often have a reduced velocity. Should be stored at constant temp if possible. Quote Link to post
tegater 789
All that happens is that the powder will burn at a different rate, hence the reduction in velocity. (Same with shotgun carts as well) opposite can happen if the ammo cooks. Quote Link to post

tegater 789
thanks pal, i,ll just put them in the microwave to warm them up. only joking!! seriously though a garage is not a good place for ammo or firearms. Damp because of the cold and high potential for condensation. Quote Link to post
Cliff Ray 185
So when reloading, can you save money on powder but get the same performance by keeping the cartridges in you pants until you want to shoot ? Quote Link to post
