WILF 47,353
It's hard out there for lads with only one line of business, bit hard to adjust if you are a tradesman, can't exactly be something else the next day if you have an established business. Also when you are selling your time, once you have done it, it's done and it ain't coming back......not like having a bit of stock round you that you can cash in. We also got into a rather bad habit in this country of selling service on price instead of quality, you have to do a lot more work just to get the same money. I had about 5 years off, which was nice' and it gave me the opportunity to get rid of all the price cribbers who were 20% of my business but % of my hassle and expenses. Low exes, fingers in different pies, don't tolerate time wasters and keep grafting.........you may not make no fortunes but you will plod on

redeye jedi 39
most things being sold in this country are imported, british engineering has been diminishing for years and is almost gone. China WAS the place to do business, they are slowly pricing themselves out of the market place with the cost of living rising. They have moved a lot of the labour out of the country to keep prices low. Africa is flooded with Chinese taking advantage of the low cost of labour. Stay one step ahead of what others are doing and you will be successful.
Rabbithunter 456
Where theres muck, theres money with you saying that id say the likes of drainage companys should be doing well, with flooding / burst pipes ect I should imagune so, but unless you get maintenance contracts with council, housing, etc then I guess you would be always 'chasing' new work. An ideal thing is something wherr you get a lot of repeat business, month after month
