jamesmc 582
ye can wash them?move the food?hoover?.......to make them more robust and healthy??.....why not try working them and good grub should do the rest I forgot to mention chewing (if they're inclined to chew they'll find something they like) and the kids feeding them biscuits when you're not looking. I've had them inside and outside. their bodies adapt to their environment (same as ours do) if they live inside their coats don't look as good and they seem to feel the cold a bit more when working. if your dogs chewing stuff in your house, thats your fault,(i personally give them bones?)........i don't think a the kids feeding them the ood biscuit is going to affect their working ability.....and as for the coat yes it will be different, but if the dog is getting plenty of work it should have a good coat on it indoors or out?.... my terriers got a liking for chewing wires, you can't leave him anywhere near them even if he's got a bone. and depends how greedy the dog is,when my lad was a toddler he fed a pack of frozen burgers to my birds staff, then I also got the pleasure of cleaning up the giant sloppy shit he left for me In the kitchen that night. working dogs are meant to live outside mate,if you're really that lonely try this site mate. www.pof.com i will get myself a kennel built asap....thanks for the info.....sounds like you know yer stuff about dugs .....so we will leave it at that n case you start talking more.....sloppy shit 2 Quote Link to post

hillbilly boy 109
Hi lads, what do you think of keeping working dogs inside the house as pets? The reason I ask is I was out lamping with a man who does and his dogs were shit. A buddy of mine does a lot of rough shooting and he said that any pet dog he'd seen had been shit too. Any working dog I've had has been kept in a shed all day and only taken out to exercise and work them and sometimes let them follow me around the farm and if I do say so myself they were all fairly good. What are your thoughts on this? L_L best lamping dog i had was a house dog makes no difference in my eyes same here buddy ......but when he missed some things on the lamp........i used to think to myself, see if you were in a kennel......that would have been dead pmsl Quote Link to post

shaaark 10,721
What if say ye had a WHIPPET, and you thought the world of it, would you keep it in the house or kennel, given the FACT that it caught more than any of your 'well bred' and much thought about, as regarding feet etc, lurcher? kennel or house? baw 4,360
I think working dogs are better out side and that they give more my reason for saying this is from experience ' I just find that when the dogs been kennelled and with out you for the best part of 24 hours it really works harder and is eager to please and I'm not saying house dogs are not I'm just saying the dog seems a lot happier to see you walk in the Kennel Run than he is the front door ! Just my opinion before I get my head bit off I think it's good to bring them inn a couple of times a week for a bit of bonding and have them trained so they no how to behave in the house You're entitled to your opinion but I think that's a load of old shit. If the dog hasn't seen you for a while he is more eager to please you? Lol. Just my opinion ..come see what my pet dog is like after being left 10minutes in the house, its like iv just saved her life an she can't thank me enough..all over me, the misses, and the kids. BAW, what's your point then..? What's my point, serious? Get an adult to explain it. (Note to self, don't attempt a joke with rob) Quote Link to post

jcm 2,327
e and my hunting oaks keep our dogs in the house and there are very good dogs, the only down side to keeping a dog in the house is they don't get a good winter coat in, my dog feels the cold a bit but don't stop him grafting Quote Link to post

lamping_lad 8
I'd hate to have to keep the dog indoors for fear of it being stolen like some of you. Luckily we have none of that around here Quote Link to post
