lamping_lad 8
Hi lads, what do you think of keeping working dogs inside the house as pets? The reason I ask is I was out lamping with a man who does and his dogs were shit. A buddy of mine does a lot of rough shooting and he said that any pet dog he'd seen had been shit too. Any working dog I've had has been kept in a shed all day and only taken out to exercise and work them and sometimes let them follow me around the farm and if I do say so myself they were all fairly good. What are your thoughts on this? L_L Edited January 17, 2013 by lamping_lad Quote Link to post
baw 4,360
Seen plenty of good house kept dogs mate. Don't think it makes any difference, if anything, house dogs have a better bond. Wouldn't keep one inside myself mind. 3 Quote Link to post

hillbilly boy 109
It really dont make a difference to the working ability of the dog if its kept in the house or kennelled outside its up to the owner what they prefer Quote Link to post
mikeball 108
Can't see how it would make a difference to be honest. My mates got a house dog that works and its a awesome worker. I keep my dogs outside but that's cause its easier for me and my life style not because I think there better workers outside. Atb Quote Link to post
armdog 196
i wouldnt say its the case with all dogs but the best dogs ive had were when i was younger and were kenneled, now ive got a missus and kids dogs live in and what ive got now are deffinately softer as a result, Quote Link to post
troter58 1,711
so a dog kept in the shed all day makes it better than a dog kept in side the house why ???please tell me Edited January 17, 2013 by troter58 Quote Link to post
The one 8,506
We let ours into the house but after a bit they want back outside , and the reason i think is being kenneled would give them a thicker jacket , but weather you keep them inside or out has nothing to do with bonding Quote Link to post

lamping_lad 8
Why don't you tell me why keeping dogs inside makes them shit. I'd like to hear your views? For one thing houses are generally nice and warm, I think if you keep a dog in a house it'll get used to being warm and comfortable and then it won't like going out out in the wind and rain as much as a dog that's kept in a shed. I also just don't like the idea of any dog being inside. Quote Link to post
