3175darren 1,100
Is there any reason Why we cant order some in from France at two Euro's a pair then? I wish we could they look a stronger trap and at two euros well worth it, I had mine bought, for me I did a favour and wouldn't take money for it,it would be nice to find a way to get them sent over, Quote Link to post
Matt 160
It's all very well trying to buy stuff in from abroad to save a bob or two, but it can be fraught with problems. Often HMRC will impound parcels and charge import duty and VAT on the contents. Apart from the expense, you have endless delays while they take it in turns to kick your package around their store room. If a company as good as Fourteenacre have gone to the trouble of bringing the things over, then I would buy them off them (not that I intend buying any). If we don't support British businesses then they will disappear. Think about it, if you can't buy a British product, then at least buy it from a British supplier. I know that some stuff just isn't viable for a UK importer to bring in ~ but in this case a good reputable supplier has gone to the trouble of importing them to save us all hassle. It's just my opinion, I understand that to some folks saving a bob or two is more important than anything else. 1 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Too true matt and nice of you to big up fourteen acre You wont go wrong with their gear. However, not all companys are doing us a favour with regards to import and a certain type of mole trap. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
However, not all companys are doing us a favour with regards to import and a certain type of mole trap. I've got to agree with that Moxy Pest controllers, who are a special breed at the best of times, seem to get 'hooked' on pest control suppliers, and buy nearly everything from them regardless of the price. As an example, I helped a member on here recently who needed a full face respirator. The usual suspects wanted around £150, but I suggested that we tried a fella from my village here who has just started out on his own selling PPE to factories and the like from the back of his motor. The result? A decent 3M full face respirator for £ odd quid. It makes ye wonder, don't it? Quote Link to post
Le Braconnier 49
You can buy them on ebay.fr but postage will be a killer and you need the setting tool. Search for mole traps in French with: piege taupe. Edited January 22, 2013 by Le Braconnier Quote Link to post
torchey 1,328
I just had a look at the french ebay and can,t find any info about shipping to the uk, i would have thought they will sting you for the postage Quote Link to post

It's just my opinion, I understand that to some folks saving a bob or two is more important than anything else. I agree about supporting british businesses, for me its not about saving a bob,I do think sometimes that english traders work on very high markups, which in some cases is nothing but greedy, thats my opinion,I like to mess and try different traps,I know to a proffessional mole catcther its unproductive time, but thats how I find the best method for me,I wouldnt mind seeing how they do things in regards to catching moles on the continent, I like to learn,as regards the import I seem to remember a piece on here which eventually spoke about buying rifle scopes from abroad, and the outcome was no import tax from europe,I will have to dig around to re-read it,and see, as for postage god know's how much that would be,however if they are no significant differences between them, and the nomol we can buy here, then why bother if I am going to be critical of nomol, I think I would prefer a stronger spring in them, Quote Link to post
Le Braconnier 49
There is no UK import duty on goods bought from EU countries. I shop around and find that things like fishing reels and cameras are less expensive in Germany and Italy than in France or the UK. I bought a Penn reel from Germany recently that even allowing postal costs of 20 euro was still over 30 euro cheaper than if I'd bought it here or when I was in the UK. That is a lot of saving for the same item. Quote Link to post
