NEWKID 27,047
Had a grey x collie which would jump out of or over anything, escaped from the house a coupe of times out of the bedroom window, was an unbelievable jumper, there was a gate to a field we used to run, it was a big wooden slat type gate at least 6ft she would jump that, she was a bit obsessed with jumping.. Lol It was her undoing though, she was sat in the front of the van one day, with the window part open, she tried to jump out and was hung by her leg, it was quite badly broken..... She was never the same.... Quote Link to post
cammy12 176
if my dogs are at heel or not chasing they will jump on comand if the lurcher is chasing she takes every obsticle in her way as with the springer jumps on comand unless out on retreive then then she does what she has to do to get the bird back to me, my first lurcher used to take deer fences with ease and my party trick when i was a boy was get her to jump the 6ft school fence what a dog she was rip orignal chinook. Would love to have seen your dog jump fences designed to keep deer out... With ease tae!!! you get some that dont take no for an answer and a fence is just an obstile in the way of quarry!! a deer fence is only six and half feet and no barb so its less worrying than double barb!! have you never seen roe crossing a deer fence before? some will some wont same as dogs Does your dog seriously jump deer fences mate? my old dog used to do it...lurcher x lurcher...25".....,needless to say your dog needs to be a very good jumper which mines was .....but he did not do it with ease, and not regularly, used to get over most of the time....though took a few sore ones too....would not advise people to let their dogs do it,i was a bit younger and daft ....but ye learn from yer mistakes ......atb..... this sounds similar she was lurcher x lurcher and about 26" i never said we got it all are own way. baw 4,360
My dogs could jump the big cattle gates, double barred fuckers but they'd pretty much push off it with the back feet. Same with 6ft garder fence but these are all solid objects. I'd never entertain a deer fence, never had to, the quarry has always been on the same side Well done the dogs that have, some baws to do that. I've seen countless deer jump it, seen them doing it from a standstill but never a dog. 1 Quote Link to post

fitchet 788
Deer are funny animals ive seen them jump big fences but a few months back i was out on a old gravel pit working lamping. Came accross a young roe walking into a wire fence that my saluki pup was hopping over daily as a pup !! I watched it for a good 10 mins. It seems they have to learn to jump properly.
