Hibiscrub (Chlorhexidine) and TCP (Phenol) stand out as the best on paper in various dilutions dependant on the application. Simple and time honoured is good old saline with a couple drops of tea tree. Also Iodine, alcohol etc. What are you all using and for any particular reason? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

paulus 26 Posted January 16, 2013 Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 it would really depend on what you intend to use if for, it the dog had a bacterial/fungal infection then i would use pottasium permanganate, if it was a wound, initially i would clean with hibiscrub and then continue with salt water, if it was to become infected i would go straight to antibiotics Quote Link to post Share on other sites

They also use TCP in hospitals, it's that very familiar hospital smell. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but those two stand out to me.
