zini 1,939
Taken straight from the YouTube description Hi there, In this episode of VerminHuntersTV I visit one of our biggest nursery permissions to try and shoot some of the wood pigeons that have been causing a problem in the fields and growing areas. My end goal is to shoot a few pigeons for a nice meal to serve on my table. The tactic I use is my favorite tactic and is static hunting. This is done from a natural hide, and my tool of choice is a sub 12 foot pound Edgar Brothers XVI in .22 calibre. The pellets I use are RWS Super Field pellets a 15.9 grain. Please enjoy Si & Davy. 3 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
Great film Si mate! You do the best Pigeon shooting vids of the lot in my book mate. They are a very unassuming but, difficult quarry to ambush and shoot with an air rifle. They know their terrain with a photographic memory and never take a risk with the slightest detail wrong out of place (ie. us!) to their senses. One little detail not as they remember and they're gone! That's why, even though you can be cammoed-up and well concealed, I'm certain that, even a glimps of your rifle is enough to swerve them off your aim. You always give everyone a reasonable show on how to set up and shoot these wary creatures, Your shooting is never less than a perfect job Si. But the Edgar Brothers XVI ( XVI = 16 in Roman numerals) is an unusually meaty looking rifle. Very accurate too from what you demonstrate here mate. How much do one of these cost? Not going to buy one myself, but other lads might like to know a bit more. Did you get a crack at the other two Pheasants that were to right of the one you nabbed? I'm sure there was another female and a male in your sight, close by your shot hen. Cracking film again old pal! Best wishes. Simon 2 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Thanks you Aaron and thank you Simon . Yes the XVI is a heavy beast if fully bipod-ed and scoped up Simon. Its best used as a static hunting rifle if I'm honest. Very accurate off the bipod. Well I say very accurate but not to the accuracy of a HW100, Rapid, Daystate, R10, Ultra or a AA S410. Good enough to hit a coke bottle top at 50 meters 3 or 4 times out of 5 shots I should imagine (not tried it though that many times). What i have done is shot a 3 shot BC calibration shoot at a lased 40 meters with it that was under a 5p piece. It would be much more accurate if the trigger on the one I use was a slight bit better and set more like a HW100. Regarding the other pheasants, no i could have Simon as they were only 30 to 35 meters away at the furthest, but didn't as I said I would only shoot 1 or 2 a season there to the keeper as a thanks for the woodies and rabbits i shoot there for him throughout the rest of the year. They can be bought now for £499.95 from Drapers Airgun Centre in Nottingham http://www.drapers-airguns.co.uk/index.php?main_page=specials Si. Edited January 16, 2013 by zini Quote Link to post

Although fair play it seems purfectly accurate enough for the job. ATB Matt I can understand that mate. They are a military looking beast which not everyone likes. I got this one for 1.5 years ago and they didn't ask for it back after i did a review of it so didn't buy it mate so cant really moan, and it does what i need right at this moment in time as its my only PCP ATM. andyz 30
Nice one buddy, just goes to show with a bit of shelter and some follage to break up your outline, some patience and stealth even when the trees are bare you can get a nice bag! How did you cook your bag? I like to pan fry in a little red wine, onion, rosemary and with a hint of garlic.... Mmmmmm Enjoy buddy! ATB Andy Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Si, It's been to long! Another cracking vid to keep my addiction at bay whilst I await my new rifle. I really thought that was one of the better pcp vids you have done, although would have preferred to have seen your 97 knocking them out the trees! The snow and trees reminded me of your early vids with the prosport. Love every second of that vid mate, truly awesome accurate shooting. Got to agree with others though, it's not the most beautiful rifle ha ha. Phil. Quote Link to post

milegajo 595
Shooting pigeons is tough enough, let alone filming too! The random branch stuffed in your clothes made me smile despite it making perfect sense. Going by the lack of pantomime action, I'd say you must've severed that pheasants spinal chord. Good clean shooting. Threading a pellet through those twigs was a feat too! Good vid Si. Shame I appear to have been barred from saying so on YouTube . Must be a 'technical glitch', perhaps you could look into it for me. Quote Link to post
