stinkers 102
I keep my stinkers in my brick shed with there own housing inside it. My jill has always been a bit of a live wire but today she lost the plot completely. I let them run around the shed when im cleaning them out and feeding them. I let them both out and the hob does his usual thing, climbing my leg till i pick him up, very affectionate for a hob and does like the attention. The jill just went straight for my feet and sunk her teeth into my trainers and latched on. Trying to get her off was a nightmare, when she finally got off she sarted the war dance and attacking my feet, went to pick her up she then latched onto my jacket sleeve and wouldnt let go .....scruffed her to get her to release. Put her on the floor again and just coninuously attacking my feet and legs. ot sure whats going on with her. I finnished cleaning out there house and putting fresh food in and went to pick her u to put her in ........totally mental, hissing snapping lunging at me. When i finally managed to cop hold of her she nipped me a good one on my thumb knuckle.....first time ever she's used her teeth on me properly. Scruffed her again and dragged her a bit on the floor ....not too hard. Then went to put her back in the housing and as soon as her feet touched the floor she turned and lunged with her teeth for my hand, was going to scruff her again but everytime i went to pick her up she was trying to sink her teeth into me. I handle my stinkers everyday but this has thrown me completely.....normally she is lively and scatty which is fun but not when the teeth are sinking in. First time she's ever done it and it wasnt in the playful way.....the hob is still as docile....in fact one of the most friendly hobs ive had over the years. Now there both about 11mnths old but as i say both handled a lot by me and by the fella i got them off. Wll go back out later when its calmed down a bit and see if she acts the same ......im not one for having a biting ferret, hopefully it was just a mood thing but not looking forward to another teeth sinking session Quote Link to post

She likes a bit of rough play but she doesnt use her teeth, her claws are normal in her play just cant get me head round how overnight she flipped the lid. Quote Link to post
joe14 98
sounds as if shes playing but she doesnt realise how rough rough shes been. They will go for your trainers for some reason most ferrets love rubber lol. Some of mine wont even mouth my hands but some of them will, they dont puncture the skin though. just how ferrets play. Use one of those cat fishing rod toys and play with her at a distance lol. Edited January 14, 2013 by joe14 Quote Link to post

ferret100 47
Women.... Maybe it is just the hormones kicking in! Defo right getting her into vets asap before she gets a real fetish going on. Poor wee thing doesn't know whats hit her, some react more strongly to a 1st season than others. Can't have you splashing out on more leather, you'll only encourage her Atb. 1 Quote Link to post
stinkers 102
Jst been in there with hr ...took her out by herself and left the hob inside. She still skitish, let her run around a fair bit before handing her too much. Fecker still got me with her teeth whilst was checking her over.......luckily was on the knuckle pretty sure she would have locked on otherwise. Scruffed her and she calmed down afterwards but still went a few times for my hand. More relaxed when i put her in the housing, and didnt do a kamikaze jump at me. Stayed for a while and rubbing her through the mesh on the front of the housing and she was fine. Still going to get her done pretty soon though cant have a tempraMENTAL stinker when out in the field.....especially if doing a dig for her ....take my hand apart :icon_eek: . I'll pay her a bit of indivual tlc over next few days before seeig whether to take her out this weekend to work. Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
I doubt she'll show much consistency in behaviour right now if her hormones are off the scale. Out of curiosity how does she treat your hob at present? Personally, I'd try to handle her as normal, ignore the nips, seems like she's just full of cheek rather than nastiness. If they mean it, ferts will lock on to whatever they can get there teeth around, if they don't get a good grip they'll take whatever they've got and go for a better grip. Not a fan of scruffing myself for a punishment/corrective approach, find it tends to piss them off, she isn't a kit anymore! I find hormonal females don't concentrate on their job, you can work her certainly but who knows how she will perform.....I imagine pretty well if the bunnies are wearing leather Quote Link to post

She getting on good with the hob...no bickering between them and hes so bleedn g soft im surprised how good he is in a set....certainly bolts them. I'll leave her off working i think till i get her done and let her have her horomone explosions the bite she gave me earlier wasnt a nip if iwasnt so bloody quick and she didnt cop onto my knuckle i'd say it would have been a proper lock on to my finger.......and i know how bloody painful that is from past experience with a mates stinker.
