frogspawn 2
can't you dig the trees up??or would the landowner not like that? Quote Link to post
Stevie E 66
If you cant pursenet the holes can you not use poke nets to cover them? if it was myself id use the longnets to surround the trees and place nets on the holes where i can and if they hole hop you,ll have a chance of the rabbit backnetting itself has well has bolting into a net Be prepared for a nice dig though with setts under trees the rabbits can get inbetween and under some thick roots making for a lengthy dig in some cases. terryd 8,642
Try cock tail sticks to pin the net on to the wood enough 3 Quote Link to post
mhopton 807
Do you mean nets not holding on the trees or can't get close enuff ? My trick is to use little twigs in the bark to hold them up or this might sound daft but it works get some branches or strait twigs about a foot and a half long push them in the ground around the tree and so you can gently hang the purse nets from bit like setting up a long net but remember to have the net on the side away from the hole so the branch/twigs don't stop the net from closing around the rabbit hope this helps mate ATB mark 2 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
As said. Use small twigs etc to hang the nets but make sure the nets run as smooth as they should. An alternative is to block the awkward holes. Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I do a few trees, what you need is about four poke nets. they are bigger than your normal net, with two pegs, when the rabbits hit these nets, they aint going anywhere. they reckon they originated in Scotland, where they were called double peggers. I also use cocktail sticks, just half them and put them in the cracks of the bark. i also carry four plastic clothes pegs, if you can attach them, they can be useful. You can use your purse nets for the smaller holes. I dont know what your ground is like, but you can also use stop nets, round the tree base, or even half way round. as been said you could be stuffed if you had a dig. but I find they bolt well from tree roots. The one 8,511
What type of nets are you using nylon 4 z's ?. put plenty net down the hole and i just hung the rest of the net loosely over the tree and it usually catches Quote Link to post
