cantona 310
my lucher is coming on well ferreting, marking, patience, reading the game, but when a rabbit hits the net and hes on it before me he trys to drag it away from me until i get him to let go(which is not easy) he is actually quite well trained, but this and his retrieve are bad.Has any one had this problem around nets and fixed it? i can live with the bad retrieve but not trying to run of with them in a net, he retrieves tennis balls and dummys, jumps, heels without a leed when lampingand, good recall , any ideas on the net grabing Quote Link to post
Geoff Bebbington 10
my lurcher bitch was the same good retriever but she was hard mouthed and it turned into a fight trying to get the rabbit from her now she wont retrive and its all my fault should of let her kill it and retrive instead now she kills it and leaves it the other end of the feild and she doesnt do that much damage to them anyway try holding him back on a slip lead until he carms down abit and learns what its about good luck with him Quote Link to post
storm323 191
Try calming it down when your out next make sure your pegs are in well and when the dog holds it in the net walk other quietly and stroke and praise the dog then tell the dog mine and give plenty of praise sounds like a bit of trust issues?good luck with the dog Quote Link to post
