Price of pups getting out of control

Recommended Posts

Ive paid good money for lurchers but my two best dogs one was gifted to me and the other was bought for £30 and i was offered his litter-brother for that as well !! What annoys me is people who buy pups for racing at gamefairs and then sell them s working dogs. And if you lads think the price of lurcher pups is bad i know people who breed GSDs and tjey get £750 a pup !!!

Having just bred a litter of pups a lot of what is being said on here is true and then there is some utter bollocks being spouted. Then again I can only give my opinion as I bred to keep back a coupl

if you pay say 300 and get a real good dog that lasts 5 or 6 seasons its buttons really some people in lurcher world need to get there priorites right they think nothing of paying 1000s for a car or h

stockman??? how the fcuk can you make that decision at birth / coulple of hours old to maybe a day or two???]     i've never heard so much bull shit in all my life, the only way you could do it is

if the dog was of the breeding and working standard i wanted i`d pay the asking price if someones put time and effort into the breeding and working of terriers or lurchers over the years then i`d part with good money .... i`ve not bred or sold any litters of terriers but given the history and background of mine if i did i`d want 400 a pup and they`d go .. if you brought them or not that choice would be yours .

It's the one thing that's never botherd me so much if that's the price that some 1 is offering a dog for its there choice personally if some one wants too spend a lot of money on a dog that's there choice and if some one wants too breed there dogs that's there choice cos lets face it this country is f****d up from governments telling me what i can do with my dogs and me disagreeing with so if I was too say what some one else does with there dogs is wrong then I'd be a hypocrite I personally would not pay for a kc reg dog or one that would be useless but that's only from my own personal experice with a kc reg lab that had auto immune diesese and cost me a small fourtune since mongrels and cross breeds tend too have less genetic defoults or problems and be healthier that's my choice of dog so if ur not willing too part with ur cash then don't but don't confuse there is a demand for dogs in this country wether we like too belive it or not we are a dog loving nation that drives the fourtune of money made from dogs that is why if I chose to get another dog in the future I will be looking for my choice of what the parents can do how well they do it and the price comes from that or if breeding my own and how the breeder feels if they got a dog that can do something better then its there choice on how much they get too charge and the consumers choice too buy it or not

imo lurchers prices are way too low. i feel sorry for people how have breed a line of working lurchers for decades and get no recognistion for it. every breeder can not keep every pup and people end up giving them because there is no point in selling a pup for next to nothing.

it does make me laugh to see pug/beagles forsale for £700.

there is no reason to breed the pair in my book they have no purpose. but people pay the money. and there are many more.along the same lines.

i think £200 is very cheap for a dog bred for a job

200 is nothing for a well bred dog doing a job that you know that you have seen but my point is this site is full of genuine dog men who have a high standard for lurchers and terriers it takes a long time to get a good thing going with breeding it just saddins me to read some of the adds and see the prices charged

totally agree mate. it saddens me to see lurcher cross collies for £300 on preloved

If I was a farmer it would be a puppy farm

Making more than beef or diary

I will pay what I think somethings worth.

I would pay the asking price if I wanted it (and it was within my means)..

Lurchers are cheaper than golf clubs

I'm in the market for a puppy this year, first time for many a moon... I really don't know what is out there and how much it will cost, though I know, whatever I choose must have a bit of history.

I still live in the world of Exchange & Mart but when I find what I want, the price will not matter...

Pay what you believe the mutt will offer, the coursing stuff commands a price that does not equate to what the dog gives in the field, point slip and an often long gallop, the next day and the next and the next, pretty much the same,£1000 is not unusual for pups of this breeding.A collie cur,a whippety cross that works at different diciplines, works day and night, ferreting, lamping etc. etc. etc. will be available at todays price at about £150 a pup, does,nt seem unreasonable.its what the individual wants and expects from the jukel that governs the price, saying that a fool is easily parted from is dole money.
