paulus 26
im posting this on behalf of penny who`s having computor troubles, she needs advice lads, heres a pm she sent me. Hi, I just tried to post a new topic on general talk asking for help:but it wouldn't post! I've been getting literally hundreds of emails from gobbledook addresses all saying mailerdaemon returned stuff. I only looked at one, then just keep binning the rest: so far this morning there are over 200 emails with different jumbled up letters as the titles. I assume someone is attempting to either spread a virus or hack into my computer> any ideas what I can do to stop this? And has is something to do with the fact that I couldn't post this question in general talk on this site? Shit! Another 122 emails as I have been writing this! paulus 26
found this penny if it helps http://answers.yahoo...07014911AA8ZJ0A This is not usually a hacker, this is usually caused by malware on your computer. Read Yahoo Help's page about this common problem http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD_MS… A hacker would have changed your password so you could not access your account You need to do ALL of the following and it should normally stop 1 - change your email password 2 - run full scans for viruses, spyware and malware. A virus scan alone is not enough. You also need to run an anti-malware scan. If you don't have one, Malwarebytes is very good and free to download. Then delete all infected files 3 - after running the scans, delete your browsing history and cookies and empty your cache 4 - restart your computer This stops it most of the time
tattooed 3
tell skycat to report all these emails as spam, hopefully should block some of them
lapin2008 1,587
Clear her internet history, best to download and use something like crap cleaner or smart protector pro as it gets stuff that doing it through the browser wont. Then go to email inbox and figure out how to mark messages as spam, change account password then download something like malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org, update it then scan computer then update windows, start, settings, control panel, and windows update Restart computer One of these steps on their own may sort it depending on what exactly it is thats caused the problem but I would run through them all anyway Edited to re-order Edited January 13, 2013 by lapin2008
skycat 6,173
Thanks guys: I don't know why my post wouldn't post on here: I tried to post in general talk, but nothing happened. Looks like it is working now. Yup, I've followed the instructions, changed email password, done Malwarebytes, just got to clear browsing history, cookies etc. Many thanks, so far, no more weird emails!
