Been fishing since i was a young boy really intrested in getting some lovely trout for the barby... i live in cambridge shire right next to Grafton water a massive resevoir theres loads of rainbows in there and people are constantly picking em out.

 

just want some exsperienced advice for a trouting beginner.

try a hawthorn fly from a boat on the downwind side of the trees. they will often congregate to catch fallen insects had plenty of sport doing just that over the years.....

Not sure if this water is a fly only venue, if so a lure fished deep will kill then all the time, if you are allowed to use other methods then I would suggest spinning a minnow, this method is deadly for rainbows.

I DONT NOW IF ITS FLY ONLY BUT IF NOT I FOUND YELLOW POWER BAIT THE BEST FOR RAINBOW TROUT, I USE THIS IN A RESIVOUR BY ME AND ALWAYS CATCH MY BAG (6) BE CAREFULL THOU ITS NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED ON MOST LAKES

The trout fishing at grafton is fly only.

If they are for the table & you just want to nail them..................freeline a single worm after a drop of rain......................A maggot feeder with twin maggot on the hook is deadly............unsporting but deadly......

get yourself a nice gill net, a row boat and BINGO loads of trout for the bbq not the most sporting of methods but hay, it works.

try some bread on a big hooook that works well for me and dont forget the nike trainers for a fast getaway if not stick a spinner on and catch at will
