from a pup take them out for walks, and introduce them to the country side, let them be pups chasing around, investigating, the scents, of the country side, and intoduce them to live stock, now depends what type of running dog, you have, I like my dogs to have a rabbit around 7 months to 9 months, nothing to serious, do not forget there tendons and muscles, are all devolping, keep them keen, recall, retreaving, all from a very early age, A pup is a pup, let them mature but with good knowledge of the countryside, for serious running again my type of dog, around 14 months, (((( do not blow them out, many a good young fellow has been sickened, before they really got started, thats my style, may not suit everyone, some start them early, but they usually finish early, good stockmanship plays a huge part, there first couple of years, KEEP THEM SWEET, do not empty there tank, remember if a human year= 7 years to a dogs life, then when he is 2 year old he in our terms is only =14 year old, now a 3 year old =21 years, now you are really seeing something happen, it is up to every individual, how he rears and enters his running dog, ((( when your young you can not see any further than the front gate, but as years pass, you relize, these dogs do not run on DIESEL, blood, bone, and flesh,
