want to start working terriers aswell as lurchers which terrier would you lot recommend for your first one? how do you go about training any dvds about? and patterdale or jack russel?

mostly using for ratting as its only legal in my country but will be hoping to go to ireland one weekend with one for foxes

theres only so many shoots, and all of em have lads doing the business for em.

The law don't say it has to be on a shoot,all it says is "to protect game birds",neither does it say how big or the type the bit of land has to be.It also doesn't state the birds have to be reared,so any bit of land big or small can have terrier work legaly done on it to protect the wild game birds that may live there.Woodcock are classed as game birds yet many are not here all year round but you can work terriers with in the law to protect them for when they are here.The only real difference in the law to that of old is dispatch and the reason why your digging,read the law and look it ain't all that bad. .

ye cause im used to lurchers which is quite clearly you aint allowed to kill foxes with them so i thought same law applied to terriers.. so you jog on

while your jogging read the law worked by a terrier an humanely dispatched ie a gun so even the terrier aint allowed to kill its fox unless it has job done before you break through\rescue it i think you should stick to lurchers !
