Howie54 0
Most people zero a .177 at 35 yards Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
35 Metres with HW97KT on H&N FTT....35 Metres with Air Arms TX200HC on AA Field. (About 37 yards in Imperial measure) In fine, still-air weather, 40 metres is a very effective zero range for hunting. Pianoman Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Blimey, I have 20/20 vision and have a good scope but I don't think I could tell where I'm aiming at 35 meters on a small target card ha ha. Having always fired and owned .22 air rifles they have been zerod at 25 to 30 yards. What's the reasoning for zeroing a .177 at 35 meters? Does it create the flattest curve? zini 1,939
I zero at 25 meters (27.3 yards) in .22 and 30 meters (33 yards) in .177 as a standard measurement, but really if your wanting to be really correct its different slightly for every combo and pellet you use. As long as you know your aim points it doesn't really matter though. Quote Link to post

Mawders I find it helps stretch out the effective range of the rifle without having to make over-complicated holdover calculations. But, as Si says Phil. It's really all about knowing your rifle's pellet trajectory and where it will fall on your scope over the arc. A 35-Metre zero takes care of the closer range targets to 5 metres close where you need holdover! With FAC .177 I've found 40 metre zero gives superb all-range accuracy for hunting.
