Hi guys. I am relativly new to running/coursing dogs had spaniels and labs now I'm assuming a lot of commands I would use on a spaniel or lab would be the same for a lurcher I.e sit, stay, come here, heel.

Are there any other commands to use aswell? Plus what sought of food would you recommend to me that is very good? Also any useful info that you could pass onto me to get the best out of her? She is a whippet, collie grey X she's very soft mouthed aswell. All help and advice would be great. Thanks chris

Chris, the old adage with any pup is, the more you put in to 'em, the more you'll get out of 'em... So if you have sound training experience with your gun dogs, apply the same basics to your lurcher... Especially sound retrieving training and stock breaking!

As for grub, BARF (look it up) is best, if you have the room to feed it (big enough freezer), that chicken place in Digmoor should do carcasses and other waste dirt cheap and they are excellent. Though if your dog is a puppy (you didn't say how old?) i'd also use a good puppy complete. The best and cheapest would be got with a trip to Westaughton dog track.
