mushroom 13,101
Not doing as much as I'd like, the nearest open land is about 2-3 hours drive away. Went out into the mountains last week had few runs but no catches, found a wee spot near the airport that has a few roe but the land is quite dense with growth which doesn't die back too much in winter, would like to let him loose but the main worry round me is there are a shitload of wild boar and they are big boys and girls They have no fear of man and will wander near you in the local park 15 mins walk away, If trev decided to try and grip one I reckon it would be game over for him. Here's a few pics of the terrain near me; http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/gallery/album/6091-wee-walk-in-the-mountains/ Ps Tomo the translation is pretty much what you would expect to hear off a ferreter Quote Link to post

I spent 4 years walking those bloody mountains and only got 1 Jack Rabbit. I think we have already had this conversation lol. i just found out there was a coursing club about 45 mins away from me that i could of joined, typical! Have a word with some of the locals and get them to get you in touch with the Province Hunting Society. Every province has one, you pay a membership fee and they give you rights to hunt their land and more often than not you have a coursing club as part of it... And where you are i would wager that there is one about. I know all about those wild boar too. One ran at me out of cover and my 2 rottys, pointer and Lurcher chased it over the mountain. Lurcher was going for the neck trying to take the big b*****d down. I thought they were dead, ran back to the house to get jeep and guns and all the dogs came running back. The pointer had a big cut on his ribs where the tusks got him but that was the only damage thank god. Quote Link to post

The pointer had a big cut on his ribs where the tusks got him but that was the only damage thank god. Mainly shooters round here mate with potlicker dogs that retrieve like a Yorkshire terrier I'll look out for the clubs nearest coursing club I could find is in Zarragosa which is 2-3 hours away I have friends there who know the land so can go whenever I want just too busy at the moment, plus I have to hire a car each time as the Renfe Ave don't allow dogs on except in proper travel boxes with dimensions you would struggle to fit a ferret in I've made quite a few friends here in the hunting world but they are mainly shooters who want to see a dog run for something different as opposed to out and out dogmen, but the support across fieldsports is impressive I have not met one person who disrespects another over their choice of hunting style (not saying they don't but it is nothing like England). An old man who lives on the same street as me, I see him regular with a brace hanging out of his rucksack and a shotgun in his hand (slipped of course) always asks me if I have been out. No-one gives a crap, you can travel on the Metro/trains with guns without fear of some overzealous copper popping one in ya skull Quote Link to post

mushroom 13,101
they dogs looked under nourished...........what shite terrain for running dogs,,,,................ we got it easy................ If that's in reference to my dog there's a reason he's lost condition, the mrs spent 3 weeks back in Mexico over christmas and the fuucker wouldn't eat properly in all that time. Tried everything even had him to the vets incase there was a blockage or something he just pined for her. It does your head in when you fill his bowl with good quality barf and it goes to waste. she's back now and like a typical tw@t he went straight to his food and ate the lot, now he's eating normal and putting weight on he's not a big framed dog though.
