antg 1,777
went into wilkos the otherday and seen they are now selling coopers so thought id try some coopers stout used almost 2kg of sugar as i put 1 1/2 kg in the larger for a bit more punch just hope i aint turned it sweet ... i dont use an hydro / 1 of then galss thingys so was thinking 10 days in the bucket then a week or 2 in the barrel well it never lasts the 2 weels in the barrel great choice of kit but 2kg of sugar is far too much. you would have being better using 1kg and brewing it short to 20 litres. you will end up with a strong stout of maybe 6.5% thats got no body at all and really thin. as i said i brew this kit all the time. for best results i use 500g of dark spray malt, 500g of brewing sugar and 200g of black treacle. its drinkable pretty quick and im regularly drinking it after only a week in the barrel. jessdale 416
I have done a few batches of the coopers stout but use 1kg of spray dried malt instead of any sugar. I then prime the barrel with dried malt as well. Very nice drink indeed
