How long is a piece of string ?? Lurchers are a "Type", not a breed. They range from, say, Beddy/Whippets to Deerhound/Wolfhounds ! The work they do varies from ferreting to deer coursing ! Then there

I only retire a dog when she doesn't want to go out hunting or go down the pub with me. As long as they are doing their job marking catching and able to get up after a bad tumble and enjoy a long mouc

very true i agree with this

When a dog is not capable off catching or after each day or night out on a hunt comes back sore and takes days to recover then its time to hang up the paws and get nice bed in the house

as i said earlier depends on what you do with them and how often. my old bitch here 14 is still usefull when ferreting, the old dog 11 is still good flushing, finding and retrieving to the gun and bushes geat for his son, hes still not half bad on the lamp if you dont push to far but i wouldnt put either on a hare if it was still legal, retirement does them no good at all
