MikeTheDog 153
I only retire a dog when she doesn't want to go out hunting or go down the pub with me. As long as they are doing their job marking catching and able to get up after a bad tumble and enjoy a long mouch they don't need to retire in my opinion. But then I'm only a hobby hunter and a soft fecker that doesn't run his mutts ragged.... 1 Quote Link to post

Chid 6,508
i know of a dog (collie/bull/grey) that will be near 13 and was only retired at the start of this season and he was still killing foxes out of cover or bolters up until retirement , Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I'd never 'fully' retire a dog again, they can run till they drop. Nothing sadder than your faithful hound wasting away.. and they do, awful quick. It's a hard heart that can put his boots on and walk out week in week out, without giving the old dog sommat to look forward to... I'd sooner PTS. Quote Link to post
