Nell 1
I was sitting thinking about my favourite TV series of all time whilst watching it the other night and thinking that nothing comes even close to it in my book, so I thought I would put the question to you all!! When you do get the time to watch a bit of TV what do you enjoy the most?..... For me it has to be Last of the Summer Wine, Bill Owen was/still is a legend in my eyes, never have I heard of a more comical character than "Compo" a character you could only ever imagine being played by Bill ! What little time I do get to watch TV this has to be my all time favourite, I don't remember the earlier episodes (being only 24) but have them on DVD and never get sick of them, "Grade A" every time! It even has a strange effect on my son, from the age of 6 month old he would drop everything when he heard the theme tune and was mesmerized until it finished and now at nearly 2 years old sits glued to the tv whenever it is on, it has to be seen to be believed!! Absolute quality!
jultaylor1972 2
For me it has to be The likely lads/ whatever happened to the likely lads. Talk about class!! Then it would have to be Steptoe and Son, how funny was that!! I even enjoyed the films that came out of both the programmes just as much. Really they are both before my time but you cant beat the old classics IMO.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
F*ck me, where do we start?! Probably with Happy Birthday, Nell. Twenty four years and how many hours is it? One of the first ever tv serials to really rock my boat was " Charles Dickens ", starring Roy Dotrice. That was thirty one years ago now and I still remember how completely wiped out by it I was. 'Likely Lads'? James Bolam? " When the Boat Comes In " ! F*ckin Brilliant! Then we had " Fox ". Remember that? 'King Billy'. Class! " The Professionals " ? One for the boys, perhaps? Probably the most unforgetable line from that was the brilliant Gordon Jackson, saying to ' Doyle '; " Bodie? But who, in their right mind, would come after Bodie alone?! The man's an animal! " " Hill Street Blues ". Everyone around me was banging on about that for ages. So the first wife bought a tv and we too started watching it. Soon became a ritual to tape it, while we were down the pub of a saturday night. Then stay in bed for a Greasy Breakfast as we watched it on sunday morning " NYPD Blue " sort of filled the gap left by that one. Andy Scipowitz was always my favourite. No sooner had the suspect made two denials than ye could see Andy's blood pressure rise. Never long before he started slapping them! Made my f*ckin day to see Big Andy lose it and start cracking some c*** out of that chair! " Sharpe " !!! I was in The Tap with my old mate, Chris H. Both fast approaching Handcart status and this was the days when pubs closed. What were we gonna do now? " Tell ye what. " Says Chris. " I have The Warreners fox shooting video at home. And the entire (first) serise of 'Sharpe'. Come back and watch them, if ye like? But, I should warn ye; Ye'll have to smoke drugs and drink alcahol in large ammounts. " The Best sunday afternoon in my whole life, Ever! Thanks again, Chris ~ where ever ye are, mate " A Touch of Frost " ? Caught some of that. Sir David Jason? Never let us down. " Taggart ". Nuff said! And finally, " Cracker ". F*ckin Blinding! Cheers, Nell! I F*ckin enjoyed that little trip down memory lane there! Great idea for a thread! And now? .......... Handcart! Guest JohnGalway
Last of the summer wine was fantastic Loved Falwty Towers too. Anything that's genuinely funny, which will be different for everyone, is good tv to me. Michael Palin made some great series for tv, around the world in days, sahara, himalaya and the like. Got all of those on DVD, some fabulous footage.
