I shall NEVER get over that feeling of pride and happiness when a dog retrieves its catch to you: there it is, the total predator, as Chalkwarren says, it goes out, hunts and catches whatever it is after, then brings it in to you, and the look in the dog's eyes says it all: "Look what I've got for you" This was especially meaningful to me with my old coursing bitch who always retrieved, no matter how long she had run for and no matter how far she had to bring that hare back, over dykes and through fences. I'd encourage in when she got to hearing distance and call out to her "good dog", and even though she was only a skinny finely built bitch, the old head would come up, which was an effort for her after a hard run and and equally long retireve on a big hare, and her tail would start wagging like an old gundog bringing in her prize, and she'd come in with her neck arched to carry the weight and stand in front of me holding the hare, and wouldn't put it down until I had hold of it. she was a good dog.

Probably the best or certainly in the top three that I've seen run, that is if you're refering to Meena skycat.

For me it's putting the time in to train them and then seeing it all come together. Above all theres nothing like the thrill of the chase to get your blood pumping is there.

natural prey and preditor for me its all about the run although seeing the catch as a result of a great run is the iceing on the cake. being able to share that bond, being up early hours for a mooch with mans best friend makes you appriciate mother nature at her best, and when i think of these big shoots shooting 200+ hares a day i think what a waste i would much prefer to see 1 good course.

The first time my bitch caught a rabbit and handed it to me, still alive, I felt ecstatic, the best high ever. It's the sheer beauty of what they do, the intimacy of it - I've never been out with someone else it's always just me and my dogs - the feeling of having a place in the natural order of things. It's f*cking miraculous. Could go on cos I'm a bit pissed but what everyone else said, me too

i recently had a baby and all my dogs live in the house with us i watched them like a hawk at first just to make sure they didn't think my little boy was a rabbit but my collie cross on put my mind at ease. if he so much as mummers when I'm out of the room she comes running to me if i don't follow her she goes back to him and to me again as if shes telling me hes crying. just watching the smile on my boys face when the dog walks in the room seeing how gentle my dogs are with him when i know what they are capable of fills me with pride :D
