Just out of intrest if you were going to breed first x collie greyhound what collie would you use? does anyone use the rough collie or have any pics of them?

first and foremost for me would be the fact it was a worker, i wouldnt care if it was a mix of differant collies as long as it could move sheep and cattle ..

if you mean rough collies as in the lassie films? they are just show dogs mate youd be better off giving them a miss go for something hardy that works

Wouldn't use a rough collie for all the tea in china. I agree with Chid, that it would need to be working livestock, but not a trial bred collie. There are one or two folk who still work pure collies as ferretting and mouching dogs, if you could find a good one of these that had come from proven working farm stock, then that would be my first choice

Worked a few pure working border collies to rabbits, all good, but some were much more natural at hunting up.

When he said collies I don't think he meant Lassie type, I think he meant border & bearded collies, both are good dogs to cross with,

First a worker, then a head dog not a pusher or heeler. See if you can find one working cattle and comes from a line of stock dogs that have bite. This is what we use over here.
