how loud is the hw97kt

hi all i would like to get the hw97kt but was wondering if it would be quiet enough to go out at night with a lamp fitted for rabbits also is there any difference volume wise between .177 and .22 . at present i have a stoeger x20 which can be heard at quite a distance dont really want a pcp if the hw is good for the job thanks in advance

the hw97 would be ok for rabbits at night.as with all springers there are moving parts.the trigger end of the gun seems loud but the quarry end just the sound of the pellet whizzing.

That is like asking how loud a Vauxhall Corsa is, depends what has been done to it! As with a car stock models vary in quietness, it can be tuned and increase noise, it can be tuned and decrease noise. If it has a silencer on it muzzle noise will be reduced! So many variables can affect the end result!

thanks guys appreciate its like asking how long is a piece of string , if i get one it will be newwith nothing done to it just wanted to know if people would use a springer as opposed to a pcp for night shooting and if the calibre makes a difference sound wise . dont want to mess with filling gear if there is no need and a springer will do the same job

At night the most quite pcp still spooks rabbits once the shot is taken .

loads of things to consider.. sometimes a pcp will spook rabbits after a shot sometimes it wont. same with a jerry springer. it all depends on how brave the rabbits are.

the noise of the pellet hitting the head of your rabbit is as loud as any thing else. they reappear in 20 minutes any how they have the attention span of .....well a rabbit!

177 will be louder than a 22, whether it will be a great deal i couldnt tell you, but .177 takes more ooomph to get the pellet going opposed to the .22.

id say a pcp would be first choice if your doing a clearance job..if your doing it because you enjoy it, springer will do. look at me though, and many others,all do it because we like doing it 75% own a pcp lol
