Hornady superformance varmint 50gr 22-250

Recommended Posts

I hav a fac .22 and a shotgun and an air arms tdr.22 air rifle. Been shooting since I was a kid and still use the air rifle for rabbits25-35 yards. The fun is in the stalking or ambush. Fac .22 good for longer range lamping etc but you don't want a .22 fac for a 25 yard shot. It just ain't needed.

Yeah I used to shoot the 55 grain old hornadays in the brown cardboard box then went to the dealer one day and he hadn't got any, only the new superformance so i tried a few boxes. I don't think they grouped as well through my gun as the old hornadays so when i was done with them i went back to the older ones. No doubt they done the job on foxes but i defiantly didn't see any advantage to them. My friends shooting the new superformance through his .222 tikka and he loves them. Just depends on your gun i suppose but i dont see a real need for the extra speed they give. The 22.250 is already flat as it needs to be in my opinion. However I was surprised to find that they are a non toxic bullet. Good to know there is something out there up to the job if they do get around to a total ban on lead. ATB Mark

I've used the 24 grain NTX Hornady Superformance in my .204. Only had the one box of 20 as i was trying various brands for my new rifle.

Every shot was under an inch at 100 yards, just abit light if theres a breeze...

I used 50g in my 22.250 and it was awsome ..hole through hole at 200 yards after load development....used to glue 2 pence's to a board n hit the every time...when I go to the house iv probably still got the reloading info written down....I wasn't using a full load of powder...
