chartpolski 23,928
Interesting, though a little long-winded ! Why not; "Shut the f**k up whinging about the Falklands, or we'll send the Marines back !!!!", Yes, of course the British Military is much depleted these days, but still good enough to scare the shit out of a bunch of Dago's !! Cheers.
Born Hunter 17,775
The British Military still punch well above their weight. I very much doubt the Argies would even consider another invasion. The islands are too heavily guarded. I read an article last week about the Argentine cammandos attempted attacks on other British territories durring the Falklands conflict. They wanted to attack Britain itself but considered it too difficult so instead got commandos with limpet mines to Spain with the intention to attack British ships off Gibraltar! The commandos were caught by Spanish police and allowed home after being treated incredibly well for terrorists. Spain also neglected to inform us as they should have as a NATO member! Spain hates us as much because of Gibraltar, as Argentina does over the Falklands !! I'm supprised the French don't want the Channel Isles !! LOL !! Cheers.
paulus 26
There are 194 countries in the known world at some point in history we have invaded 172 of them
Malt 379
There are 194 countries in the known world at some point in history we have invaded 172 of them  About fecking time we got our fingers out and invaded the remaining 22 IMO! Out of interest with that statistic, do you know how many of those 172 countries existed as sovereign nations before we went there? I'm betting a decent number of them didn't even exist until after we left/were forcibly evicted/asked to leave!

The only thing we don't have right now is an aircraft carrier but I don't think that's as much a big deal this time round.

When we owned India, it was one big country, we partitioned it just before we left, into India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Same with the Middle East; Us and France split it into lots of seperate countries after the first world war, (Sykes-Picot Treaty), and even installed a few Kings in countries they had no right to be anywhere near !!! Ah !!! The good old days of Gun Boat Diplomacy !! Makes me all nostalgic !! LOL !! Cheers.

Technically we have an aircraft carrier............ just not much of an offensive air arm! Or at least for the next few years. I'd add sub launched tomahawks to that list. They would be devastating! We still have a hell of a lot of clout! Also add to that the fact that British forces have been heavily involved in hard conflicts for the past 11 years now. Our troops know the score! It's all a mute point though, there's not going to be another fight anytime in the near future.

East Pakistan won a war of independence from West Pakistan with India's help and so Bangladesh was born.. The Middle East, was all just various Ottoman administered tribal provinces until the Ottoman Empire was defeated by the allies in WW1/the Arab revolt..

Agreed, all our kit is much better and a lot of that is down to the Falklands war, especially boots and clothing. But make no mistake, not having an aircraft carrier is a very big deal in seaborn operations or costal operations......don't let politicians tell you any different. That's why all the American battle groups are so powerful, Only having one is bad, but for a great naval nation and island race not having any is rediculous !
